Taqueria Monterrey is built on a love story and a shared dream. Simon grew up in Rochester, NY, working in his family’s restaurant from the time he was 14. Andrea was raised in Monterrey, Mexico, where food, family, and hospitality were a way of life. The two met as kids during Simon’s visits to Monterrey, and years later, they fell in love. Together, they’ve created a space where tradition meets warmth, and you can feel like family.

With a loyal following and a menu full of Monterrey flavor, it was time to put down roots. Simon and Andrea renovated a space on Culver Road and turned it into something special—a warm, welcoming taquería that feels like stepping into their home. The restaurant opened its doors in 2024, blending handcrafted food with heartfelt service, all rooted in the traditions they grew up with.

Now, Taqueria Monterrey proudly serves the best traditional Mexican food in Rochester. Every dish that leaves the kitchen is made with purpose and passion—from handmade tortillas to slow-marinated meats. Simon and Andrea are still right there in the middle of it all, greeting guests, perfecting recipes, and keeping the spirit of Monterrey alive in every meal.
